Started in 1998 with one truck and one employee, Maxcare has grown in recent years to 7 trucks and 14 employees. Maxcare earned Franchisee of the Year in 1999, its first year in business and continues to provide the Charleston area with quality service at a reasonable price. All Maxcare technicians are employees, not subcontractors, and trained in the services performed in your home or business.
Seth Levy, President of Maxcare, attended University of Rochester and West Virginia University, earning a law degree in 1984. Seth spent the early years of his career involved in legal disputes in the energy, environmental and insurance fields. However, he grew up in a household that owned and operated several shoe stores in New Jersey. This experience fostered his current passion for small, customer-service oriented business. When not working, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing basketball, and hiking.
Heidi Kunitz, Secretary/Treasurer of MaxCARE, has managed the day-to-day operations of MaxCARE since its inception in 1998 and is responsible for and invested in customer service and connecting with MaxCARE’s clients. Previous experience was in human resources and secretarial/word processing management in the states of New York and New Jersey. In a long-ago prior lifetime, Ms. Kunitz was a professional actress and singer. Ms. Kunitz hails from Alabama and is married to Seth Levy and is proud parent to Sammy and Ellie. In addition to her business acumen, Ms. Kunitz exercises her creative and artistic abilities in her role as Music Director at Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim, the historic Reform Jewish synagogue in downtown Charleston. She has also recently become a notary public and has begun officiating at wedding ceremonies. She was a founding member of the Planning Board for East Cooper Montessori Charter School in Mt. Pleasant, and MaxCARE annually donates their services to cleaning cars for ECMCS’ Teacher Appreciation Week. Together with her family, Heidi volunteers with KKBE’s social action committee with a particular focus on making meals for the hungry at agencies such as Crisis Ministries.
